Story: Wei Kit is handsome, smart and the school's star swimmer. He's also too shy to approach Deborah, the pretties girl in school, so he wates her from afar and draws portraits of her in his sketchbook. E-leng, on the other hand, is interested in Wei Kit. As his classmate and neighbour, she spends alot of time with him. When it becomes clear he'll never be friends with Deborah, Wei Kit draws closer to E-Leng. But events take a sudden turn when he is asked to write for the school newsletter and discovers that Deborah is the editior. Now he has to choose between his best friend and the girl of his dreams.

About the author: After failing as a mathematician, an engineer and a physicist, it was only natural for Amos Kwok to try writing. While studying professional writing at the University of Canberra, he won the 1995 Fellowship of Australian Writers' short story competition and was later awarded a scholarship to study under Marian Eldridge, an eminent Australian writer. Amos's short stories have been published in Australia and others were read on a radio arts programme there. Since 1996, he has been writing for local television. Amos is married to Jennifer Gan, his childhood sweetheart. They live in Bukit Timah with son Ryan and their two cats, Chrissie and Rainier.
